When this group was first set up it was quite extensive – collecting and marketing a range of seeds and it always had a strong presence at the monthly Violet Town market among others. Times change and this is a thing of the past.
They are now a small, very enthusiastic, gardening group who are swapping seeds amongst themselves. There’s no structure yet for this small local group.
The broad aim of the group is to develop a range of locally adapted seeds at the same time as teaching relevant skills such as – germinating and growing from seed, different set-ups for germinating seed, planting times, ensuring purity of seeds and which varieties can be crossed and the best plants to save seed from etc.
They will also visit different vege gardens learning from others and sharing seeds and plant material.
We’ll just have to see how this group evolves!
