COMING EVENTS:

Family Soccer Match: Each Sunday at the Recreation Reserve at 3pm finishing around 4- 4.30pm. All families or budding soccer players are welcome to come along.

Singing Group: The Strathbogie singing group meets once a fortnight at the Strathbogie Church at 7.30pm. The dates are the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. Singing will next be held on the 8th and 22nd September. All welcome.

St. Andrews Church: Services are held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, at 11.30am. Services for September will be held on 12th and 26th.

Mobile Library Visit: The next visit will be Saturday 18th September from 9.30 - 12 noon outside the Strathbogie Hall.

 

Website training session: The Website sub-committee of STAG will be holding a second training session for page managers between 6 -7.30pm on Friday 10th September. This session will provide hands on training for community members to manage their own page of the website such as Material Girls, Golf Club, CFA. Please register your interest with one of the sub-committee members – Ellen or Kate at the school, John Hooper, Dayle Tame, Sean Matthews.

 

ABBA Variety Concert: The big night is set for Saturday October 9th at the Strathbogie Hall. We are looking for budding ABBA singers/dancers to perform. To book a table, contact Kim Usher on 5790 5345. Prior to this there will be an ABBA film night held at the hall to set the scene for the big night. This will be Saturday 4th September at 7pm. The cost will be $5 per head which will include a light supper and drinks. Bookings for both functions are essential. Book with Kim.

 

The Great Victorian Bike Ride: Will be coming through Strathbogie and having a lunch stop at the Rec ground on Sunday 28th November.   There will be approximately 5,000 riders (1200 will be school children and teachers), 500 volunteers and 150 contractors which creates the opportunity to promote businesses and raise funds for community groups.   STAG is liaising with the Shire and Bicycle Victoria and will set up a working party to coordinate activities.   If you would like to be part of the working party please contact either Hugh Campbell (5790 8543, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Bicycle Victoria has a dedicated page on their website for each town which can be updated as we provide information plus they can link a webpage from theirs to ours. Community groups with pages on our Strathbogie community website are encouraged to update your pages so Bicycle Victoria can establish this link.

 

Research indicates that 77% of participants will return to somewhere they visited on the ride in the following 12 months.

 

Indoor bowls: There were 9 bowlers last Wednesday night and the winners were Robert Goldsworthy (skipper) and Christine Chittick. The lucky numbers went to Ian Chittick, Margret Parkinson and Christine Chittick.

 

 

 

 

School News:

Birthdays - Jack Mc Donald is turning 6 on Monday (6th) and Miss Molly Ayres is turning 8 on Wednesday (8th) September. How spooky, both of our beautiful birthday people are turning the age of their birthday date!!! Happy birthday you two and have a great day.  

National Literacy and Numeracy Week - Thanks to everyone for participating in our Literacy and Numeracy Week. We had some great thinkers, some wonderful team work and a lot of fun.

Highlights or our week in class included the Literacy Quiz on Monday, Thursday’s Maths Games and of course the Book Character Dress Up Parade on Friday. Thanks to everyone for the effort you made to ensure that this week was special.

Footy Tipping - This week concluded our footy tipping for 2010.

1st Katelyn -113

2nd Brooke -109

3rd Dylan -105. These three have been very consistent throughout the contest.. However there were quite a few that have been snapping at their heels all the way to the end. We presented the winners with their prizes on Wednesday morning. Finn and Oliver took out the prizes for the wooden spoon.

Children As Authors - Libby Ahern visited during the week and shared out the prizes to the winning story writers at our campus.
