Strathbogie Badminton Club, Inc.

Activities

Strathbogie Badminton Club is open to any juniors and adults from Strathbogie and surrounding areas who wish to play badminton. Beginners and experienced players are welcome.  Anyone is welcome to come along from primary and secondary students to young adults and seniors.

Each Thursday night from about April through September, a round robin practice night is held at the Strathbogie Hall starting at 7:30pm and finishing 9:30 to 10pm.  Each player plays 3 games and the 2 highest scoring juniors and 1 senior score a chocolate bar!

Membership

Thursday Round Robin nights - Juniors $1.50/night, Seniors $3/night, Family $6/night Annual membership fees are payable after attending 3 practice nights – Junior $2, Senior $5, Family $10.

Competition

Many players from the Strathbogie Badminton Club are members of teams that compete in the Euroa & District Badminton Association Competition which runs on a Monday night at the EcasCentre in Euroa and at the Strathbogie Hall.  Teams consist of 6 players graded from no. 1 to 6. A membership fee applies for this competition.

History

Strathbogie Badminton Club has been active since the early 1970’s.  Before this, badminton was one of the activities offered by the Youth Club in Strathbogie. The round-robin practice nights on Thursday nights have always been a favourite with members of the club.  Through the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, Strathbogie entered its own teams in the Euroa & District Badminton Association, along with Longwood, Ruffy, Youth Club, Violet Town, and Miepoll, and won many premierships over the years.    Presently, all teams in the EDBA competition are formed from a common pool of players, of which a third come from Strathbogie.
