STAG (Strathbogie Tableland Action Group) PDF

About us

The Strathbogie Tableland Action Group (STAG) was formed in the latter part of 2005 to develop a Community Action Plan, the purpose of which is to encourage community groups to work together in planning for and creating a positive future for Strathbogie, to focus on issues and projects of particular importance to our community and to give overall direction to Council about ways in which the community can be strengthened.

STAG operates under an “Instrument of Delegation” with the Shire Council and this arrangement provides us with a formal structure within which to work and appropriate insurance cover.   However, STAG itself is completely unfunded and relies on grants and fundraising activities to help finance projects.

What we do

STAG provides support and coordination to community groups in the preparation of grant applications and can assist with identifying funding sources for specific projects. Community groups are encouraged to work with STAG when applying for grant funding, particularly in the case of Council grants.

During a relatively short period of time, this coordinated approach by the community has already produced a number of positive outcomes including:

*the production of a local community directory

*improvements to communications through upgrading Tableland Talk computing facilities

*a planned main street improvement program

*the establishment of the Strathbogie Tableland website (supported by funds from Council)

*provision of a pedestrian bridge across Spring Creek

*development of Part 1 (Bushfires) of an Emergency Resource specifically for the Tableland

*provision of mobile phone and broadband access through intensive lobbying campaign

*improvements through signage and roadside clearing at dangerous intersections

STAG has also received funding through Council from the State Government under the drought relief Infrastructure Works Program for projects identified in the Action Plan.

How we work

While STAG has a formal committee structure, community members are welcome to attend meetings. These are held in the Strathbogie Memorial Hall on the second Monday of each month commencing at 7.30pm.
