THE STAG REPORT

The following notes are from our most recent Strathbogie Tableland Action Group meeting, which was held on 27th   April 2025 at the Strathbogie memorial hall.

  • There was more discussion on some of the items carried over from our March meeting.
  • STAG will seek community feedback on the best local projects to spend grant money on. There are still the Strathbogie Recreation reserve stand pipe and the community directory projects which require grant money for them to proceed.
  • There has been no community feedback on solutions for the on going dumping of non recyclables & rubbish left at the Strathbogie Recreation reserve, although it is noted that the ground around the bins is presently very clean and free of rubbish.
  • The Fungi Festival – Puff Ball, will be held at the Strathbogie hall on Saturday 17th May. Suzie advised that although bookings are presently slow, working on the event is proceeding well.
  • Stuart advised that there are presently 408 members on Bogie Tree. A few are not receiving all emails because their email boxes are full resulting in “soft bounces”.
  • Community bus service project: No further update on this because Marion was unable to attend the meeting.
  • It was observed that the footpath between the Strathbogie Recreation reserve and Main Street has been surveyed.
  • Stuart followed up with Ambulance Victoria, Leon Mackrell’s suggestion to provide reflectors/ lighting around the Strathbogie Recreation reserve oval to enable better visibility for air ambulance helicopters trying to land at night or in thick fog. Their response was: that due to the technology in the helicopters, additional lighting, etc, is not necessary.
  • Crowe advised that the Safer Roads Strathbogie (SRS) is looking at preparing stickers to engender greater community awareness and that Strathbogie Council is organising a risk assessment on Harrys Creek and the Euroa – Strathbogie Roads, to determine if the speed limit should be revised to 80 kph
  • An old AED (defibrillator) which requires a new battery and pads is available for any community group/hall if they wish to purchase these items.
  • A working group has been formed to organise a community strengthening event and they’ll be meeting to come up with a fun way to do this. Volunteers from the community will be required.
